Happening at St. Mark’s
Week of July 27, 2015
Most of you have read in the most recent Evangel that St. Mark’s needs a new roof. Now that Claudia Weidner, our Junior Warden, and Kathy Vaughn, our Stewardship Chair, have returned from summer vacation, the parish will begin exploring the best ways for us to preserve and upgrade our buildings. The Vestry will keep the parish community informed as plans develop and more information becomes available.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game!
It’s that time again! Episcopal Night at Dodger Stadium is Friday, September 18, 2015, at 7:00pm. A signup sheet will be available at the greeter’s stand outside the church door. Tickets are $18 each and must be paid for in advance. This Sunday is the last day for ordering tickets.
Say goodbye to this “Happening at St. Mark’s” format! Starting next week, we will transition to a more dynamic and interactive bulletin through Constant Contact. The revamped bulletin will offer a lot more content and a richer reader experience. As we make this move, if you have suggestions for ways to improve the weekly update, please let us know.
Welcoming Fr. Bob Honeychurch
Mother Sharon will be taking a much-needed vacation for two weeks next month. The Rev. Bob Honeychurch will be leading us in worship on Sunday, August 16, and Sunday, August 23. Let’s make sure that everyone is here to welcome Bob!
Ever wonder which readings are coming up on Sundays? Or, was there a lesson you’ve heard that you’d like to read again? Visit http://www.lectionarypage.net/ for both Sunday and midweek lessons! (In case you’re curious, we use “Track Two.”)
Save the Dates!
In preparation for Lobster Fest, we will be gathering on Saturday, September 26, 2015, for a parish workday. We will have a variety of tasks available to meet all ability and age levels.
Our friends at Faith Church have invited all of St. Mark’s to join them for their annual Korean Thanksgiving celebration after our service on Sunday, September 27, 2015. Faith Church will serve up lots of delicious food and gracious hospitality. Please plan on remaining to enjoy this feast.
Saturday, October 3, 2015 will be our annual Lobster Fest. The Vestry is hard at work planning the event, and fliers and information will be available shortly. It’s not too early to talk with your friends and family about reserving a table. We look forward to seeing you there!
